The app checks supported .xlsx, .csv, and .tsv files, including subfolders. Files are paired by their relative folder path and filename, without case differences getting in the way.
For example, Baseline\North\Sales.xlsx pairs with Current\North\Sales.xlsx. A file under Current\South is a different location. A .csv file and a .tsv file do not pair automatically in folder mode because their filenames have different extensions.
Check the whole delivery
Start with Different to review changed files, then check Missing / new and Errors. A missing counterpart can be just as important as a changed number.
Use Find file to narrow the list by filename or folder path. The status buttons and page controls only change what you see; they do not rerun the comparison.
If a file was renamed, its old and new paths can appear as missing and new entries. Pick those two files directly if you want to compare their contents.
Choose an order or stop early
Under Comparison options → Folder runs, Check files in this order offers filename order, largest files first, or smallest files first. Size order uses the combined size of each pair.
Stop after the first issue stops after a Different, Missing / new, or Error result. It is handy when one failure is enough to send the output back for correction. It does not check the remaining entries.
Before calling a delivery checked, read the progress message and make sure the run finished. A cancelled or early-stopped run only tells you about the files it reached.
Try a small report run
Download the practice files from the report comparison lesson and extract them. Compare Baseline with Rerun. You should get two Same results and one Different result. In the banner tables report, D8 changes from 46 to 64.
Once the folders and settings are right, save a project so the next run starts from the same setup.
