Save the setup once
- Choose the baseline and new files or folders.
- Set any tolerance, CSV options, or ignore rules you need.
- Run a comparison and check that the setup behaves as expected.
- Click Save as… and save a .wcp project with a useful name, such as
Weekly report check.wcp.
Later, click Open…, select that project, and click Compare. Opening a project loads the setup; it does not run it automatically.
What a project contains
A project saves the file or folder locations, comparison mode, settings, tolerance, CSV/TSV options, detail view, and ignore rules. It does not bundle the workbooks or save the comparison results.
Keep the actual files available at the saved locations. When the current report is regenerated at the same path, the next comparison reads that new file. If you need to keep yesterday’s evidence, export a report or preserve the relevant files separately.
Dragged files may be temporary snapshots rather than reusable Windows locations. Use the Choose buttons or Refresh selections… to establish paths before saving a project for repeated use.
Example: a report produced every Friday
Use C:\Reports\Approved\Weekly.xlsx as the baseline and C:\Reports\Current\Weekly.xlsx as the new output. Save the project. Next Friday, regenerate the Current file, open the project, and compare.
If a folder moves, the app warns about the missing location. Choose its replacement and save the project again. Sending someone only the .wcp file does not send the workbooks with it; their computer also needs access to the referenced files.
When you have several saved checks, put them in a regression suite instead of opening each one separately.
